Clare Clancy writes at the Calgary Sun:
United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney says he’s heard from NDP cabinet ministers that legislation to ban so-called conversion therapy isn’t necessary, but would consider supporting a bill if it’s brought forward.
“To date, I’ve just heard statements from the minister of health and other ministers of the NDP government saying that they do not see a need for this legislation, and that the medical profession self-regulates in this respect,” he said at a Tuesday news conference.
“If that’s changed, we’ll keep an open mind and hear whatever arguments they bring forward.”
