LGBTory at the Ontario PC Convention
LGBTory executive members Eric Lorenzen and Todd Langis attended the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party’s convention in Ottawa March 4-6 to network and lobby for support for some of our ongoing initiatives. On Friday night we hosted a well-attended pub night at the Three Brewers Pub on Sparks Street, where we were pleased to have PC Leader Patrick Brown drop in for a visit. He met with our members and supporters who were attending the convention and expressed support for our initiative to change the Conservative Party of Canada’s policy on same-sex marriage. Late in the evening we had a surprise visit from Conservative MP Maxime Bernier, former federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Small Business, Tourism and Agriculture, who also gave his support for our SSM plans. During the convention we met with several federal MPs who support our SSM initiative, including Tony Clement, Michael Chong and Kellie Leitch.
On the last day of the convention we asked Patrick Brown at the Leader’s Q&A session to comment on his 2005-2006 opposition to same-sex marriage during his tenure as a federal Conservative MP. You can view his response in the video below:
